Are you looking for a mature pup who is known to be friendly & well mannered? Fauna just might be your girl!

Leash trained? Yup! She is reported to be a loose leash walker and will take her time to sniff and explore. She even shows off an endearing trot when she’s excited.

Friendly? This girls tail is always seen wagging, showing she is receptive to people and pups!

Cuddler? Volunteers & Staff said, “there is nothing cuter than a sleeping Fauna.” Whether it’s at your feet on the couch, this girl likes to cuddle and has an adorable snore too.

Smart? She would get straight As! She is observant and responds to things like kissy noises, hand directions & is known to check in with you and look back on a walk.

This sweet, calm tempered girl has been in the shelter for 3 months too long. When she got to AAC she had some hair loss from fleas, but she has undergone a complete glow up since then. She’s healthy, heart worm free, and her skin has completely healed. She’s finally ready to be home for the holidays and show a human family al the love that she can give!

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day!
For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites.
For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.

Adoption Fees:
$80 cats & kittens up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
$30 small animals
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older

The Austin Animal Center is open for adoptions every day from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Please note, Adoption and Pet Resource Center lines close at 6:00 p.m. We're closed Christmas Day, New Year's Day and Thanksgiving Day to give our staff some time with family.
Interested adopters should come to the shelter during business hours to meet with a counselor start looking for a pet who'll be a good fit. Our counselors and volunteers are happy to help with that process.
