Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Gus! Gus is a 2 year old pure bred Australian Shepherd who was recently rescued from a backyard breeder. He is a beautiful pup with a sweet temperament who needs a family to build his confidence and introduce him to the world.
He is smart - treat driven - and a total love bug. A compact 42 lbs, Gus combines good looks, smarts and fun in one package. He is learning his basic obedience rapidly and is easy to walk on a leash. His recall is good and steadily improving. He wants to please and relies on cues from his person. Gus is not dog reactive or people reactive, but he does need exposure to new people entering the house and guidance on appropriate behavior.
He loves to play with his people and other dogs, but seems to prefer females. Gus is a Velcro Aussie. He LOVES to be with his people whether they are walking, on a beach, or hanging out on the couch. While he prefers the couch, he does accept being told no.
Gus is house and crate trained, and quickly learning how to be a good family member. He gets along with other dogs (preferably female) and is cat friendly. Gus needs additional training, and socialization. While house training, ccasionally Gus will have submission peeing - but this is easily addressable with the training and socialization to build his confidence.
Gus is currently living in Wilmington, NC and Falls Church, VA, and travels back and forth with his foster family. He is neutered and ready to find his furever home!
Here is the application: https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application
There is an additional $20 microchip fee which includes registration and transfer to his new furever family.
