My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Fuzzy, our 6 year old 24 pound terrier mix, is a wallflower. This is, as a fellow wallflower will point out, actually a good thing. The wallflowers are the empathetic ones who pay attention to what's happening. They also develop a killer sense of humor while on the sidelines. And, once they let you in, wallflowers make the best and most loyal friends. Fuzzy is looking for someone who appreciates this and will make him a part of their family.

Surrendered to the shelter when his people were divorcing, Fuzzy was initially very shut down. The shelter reached out to us to help him; he definitely needed a dental but he was really suffering in the shelter environment. Once we took him in, it did take Fuzzy a while to settle in. Now that he has, we are excited to share how delightful he is.

Fuzzy loves kisses almost as much as he loves the cozy life on the back of the couch. He greets his favorite people by asking for a belly rub; his sausage shaped body just adding to his adorableness. Although Fuzzy will cry for a few minutes when he's first left by himself, he quickly settles down and can be trusted to be alone in the house. Fuzzy is not destructive and leaves people things alone (except underwear. Fuzzy, seriously?). He is good with other animals, although like most wallflowers, takes a while to start playing with them. Dog savvy cats and older, respectful children should be just fine. Fuzzy is also a fan of car rides. Generally a laid back snoozy guy, Fuzzy would be a good movie watching companion.

We cleaned Fuzzy's teeth and he's had normal blood work. We also diagnosed Fuzzy with epilepsy, but staying on medications has controlled his seizures. He will need to continue with medications long term and should visit his veterinarian annually. The medications (will a goodrx coupon) would run about 15 dollars a month.

Fuzzy is heartworm negative, microchipped and current on his flea and heartworm preventatives.

Wallflowers are the best and we know Fuzzy won't go overlooked just because he's initially a little shy. Have cozy fall plans? Need a buddy to join you? Apply to adopt at www.stumptownstrays.org.
