Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Adoption Area: East Tennessee
Dobby needs:
-An active home with someone who can give me plenty of time to run off my energy in a fenced backyard
-A fenced yard
-Another dog who likes to play
-Someone who is patient as I can be very shy in new situations and I have separation anxiety
-Someone who has energy and patience to teach me as I go through my puppy stage
-Someone who is home part of the day to continue to reinforce my potty training
Hi! My name is Dobby. I am a male, one-year-old, 9-pound black and tan Chihuahua mix. You may recognize me as I have been posted before. Sadly, it did not work out with my first adopters. They loved me very much but I was not a good match for their home. My foster mom and I are going to be very detailed at telling you what will make a successful home for me.
I came to rescue when my family moved and was unable to take me with them. I was very shy and scared when I first came to my foster home. I spent a few days under the table and behind the couch just watching and trying to figure out what my new environment was like. After a few days, I opened up to trust my foster mom, and she found out that I can be very loving! I still hide and can be afraid in new situations, so I will need a home where my humans will be understanding and allow me to warm up to them at my pace.
My vet estimates that I am one year old and I still very much act like a puppy! Once I became comfortable in my foster home, I was able to show my foster mom that I am still a puppy! I don’t quite know the difference yet between dog toys and shoes, phone cords, household decorations, etc. They are all toys to me and you must monitor me to make sure I don’t get into trouble by chewing things I shouldn’t by keeping things out of my reach! My foster mom also crates me when she leaves the house. I am learning and responding to the word no, but I am still learning! I will need a forever home that is patient with me and has the time to continue training a puppy.
Speaking of my crate, I need to use the plastic ones designed for travel. I have separation anxiety and I broke out of the metal crate. My foster mom was quite impressed because the crate was still locked, but I had clawed my way out where the top and walls come together. She uses a plastic crate because she was afraid I would get hurt escaping and I have not tried to break out of it! She puts me in a crate when she leaves and I have learned to feel safe there. I sit quietly in my plastic crate with my toy until she gets back. If she leaves the house and forgets to put me in the crate I get nervous and I may chew stuff up and make messes. I’ve become very good at being in my crate while she needs to go out.
My foster mom still thinks I am the sweetest and most loving boy. When I am not playing, I love to cuddle beside her and nap. I also like to sleep under the covers next to her all night long! I am a really good sleeper. I love to get loving attention and I will give you lots of kisses too!
I get along really well with the other dogs in my foster home. My foster mom has a young little dog like me and we play all day long! I will need a dog to play with in my forever home. I also love to play with toys and take toys outside. I will also run laps around the fenced backyard! I am really just a sweet, playful, fun little boy!
My foster family loves me so much, but it is time for me to find my forever home! I am mostly housetrained but since I am young I will still need help. Sometimes when you go to pick me up and if I am scared, I may tinkle a little bit but my foster mom is working on that also. I will stay in a crate when you leave the house and when we ride in the car.
I am neutered, up to date on all my shots and on heartworm and flea prevention. My adoption fee is $175.
