Here's what the humans have to say about me:
For questions about Lucy Lu, please contact nanza13@msn.com
Lucy Lu wants nothing more than to be your best friend for life! This 2-year-old girl is
sweet and playful. She loves digging up sticks, playing fetch, and having the "zoomies".
She promises to always greet you excitedly like you're her favorite person in the world
(because you will be!). Expect full-body wiggles, tail wags, and lots of kisses. Lucy Lu is also super smart and will gladly show off her tricks for a treat or some words of praise. She has impeccable house manners and is the perfect mix of chill and fun!
Lucy Lu would do best in a quiet home with a fenced yard and without cats or small animals
(she has a hard time telling the difference between a cat and a squirrel).
Lucy Lu loves to play with other dogs and is more confident and comfortable in new
situations if she has a doggy friend with her. She would love a dog sibling who likes to
play and run as much as she does! Her ideal forever family is patient and understands
she needs a bit of time to get used to new things and new people, but that once she does, you are in her heart forever.

Additional adoption info
After you Adopt, you have two weeks to make sure this is a good match for your household. Our goal is for both the adopter and the pet to be happy with the adoption. If you return your adopted pet during those two weeks, we will refund the adoption fee or help you find a better match.
We cannot guarantee the health of any animals adopted. You will receive medical records when you adopt showing the care your adopted pet has received and what we have done to address any medical issues known to us. Please be aware that the animals available for adoption have been in contact with other animals and could have been exposed to a disease. Like human illnesses, these disorders can have an incubation period of up to several weeks. If the animal you adopt shows signs of illness at any point, please take it to the vet for treatment. Once an animal is adopted, the adopter is responsible for all medical expenses. LDCRF will not pay for medical care for an adopted animal.

Our adoption process begins with a conversation in an open, welcoming environment. We want to hear about your hopes for your new pet, your day to day routine, and your concerns. We will tell you about our available pets and help you make a choice that we hope will be just right.
This takes place in person at one of our weekly adoption events (Use this link to see our event schedule: https://www.lostdogrescue.org/events/) and if you find the right fit, you will take your new family member home that same day.

More about this rescue
Our Mission:
Lost Dog & Cat Rescue Foundation helps homeless pets find their way to loving homes through rescue and adoption.
Our Vision:
A world free of homeless, neglected or abused pets.
Our History:
- The Lost Dog & Cat Rescue Foundation (LDCRF) was incorporated as a 501c3 not-for-profit organization in 2001 when restaurant owners, Pam McAlwee and Ross Underwood,of Arlington, VA decided to formalize their efforts to save homeless pets in their community. They purchased 63 acres of land in Sumerduck VA and began building The Lost Dog Ranch, a kennel facility for homeless pets with plenty of outdoor space for dogs to run and a cage-free building for cats. In 2018 LDCRF embarked on a new chapter of its mission and purchased a facility in the heart of Falls Church, Virginia. The facility today is now know as the Lost Dog & Cat ‘Rescue Care Center’.
- Since 2001, LDCRF has saved the lives of more than 45,000 homeless pets, most of whom were facing the threat of euthanasia at over-crowded municipal shelters.
- Lost Dog & Cat Rescue Foundation is overwhelmingly a volunteer-run organization with a small paid staff providing direct care to animals at the Lost Dog & Cat ‘Rescue Care Center’. Many other animals are cared for in our network of volunteer foster homes and some cats are housed at PetSmart Cat Adoption Centers.
- Every weekend, LDCRF holds off-site adoption events at local PetSmart and PetCo stores and places more than 2,000 dogs and cats per year for adoption. In addition to weekly adoption events, LDCRF is very active within the local community and partners with local businesses and community members to hold ‘Special Adoption’ events through the year.
Our Values:
- LDCRF was founded with the belief that through an open, friendly adoption process we could match great people with homeless pets and send those pets to their new homes without unnecessary barriers. To that end, we have done same day adoptions with two-week trial periods since 2001, and continue to look for ways to remove barriers that prevent adoptions.
- LDCRF makes a lifetime commitment to the animals we rescue and accepts those animals back into our care should the need arise.
- At Lost Dog we like pets AND people and we hope to make the adoption process positive and fun for adopters and volunteers alike.
