My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Say hello to Vidalia, a 3-year-old merle beauty with a heart as sweet as her stunning coat. Vidalia is an affectionate, playful, and energetic girl who loves to be right by your side, whether she's cuddling on the couch or enjoying a game of tug-of-war. She's always ready for fun, but once she's had her exercise, she's perfectly content to relax and unwind with you.

Vidalia is house trained and knows basic commands like "sit" and "down." She's a toy lover and enjoys chewing-especially on durable toys that she can't destroy! With the right toys, she can chew for hours, keeping herself entertained and happy. She also loves long walks, hikes, and visits to the dog park to burn off her energy.

While Vidalia is generally dog-selective, she does well with male dogs and could happily live as a single dog in a home, where she can be the center of attention. She is not suited for a home with cats and would thrive in an environment where she can be her loving, playful self without competition from smaller animals. Vidalia is the type of dog who loves to be around people and always wants to be in the same room as her family, offering affection and companionship in spades.

Vidalia is an incredibly sweet and loving dog who will make an amazing companion for anyone willing to give her the time, attention, and playtime she deserves. If you're looking for a dog who will shower you with love, be your active partner in adventure, and then curl up next to you for cuddles, Vidalia could be your perfect match!

Thanks to the generous support of Greg Stevens, Vidalia's adoption fee has been sponsored!

More about this shelter

The Humane Society of North Central Florida was created in 2018 when the leadership of the Alachua County Humane Society, Gainesville Pet Rescue, and Helping Hands Pet Rescue decided to permanently join forces. By becoming the Humane Society of North Central Florida, our organizations were able to effectively streamline services for pets and pet owners, eliminate any duplication of services, maximize our community’s resources, and improve the life-saving abilities of the entire region.

Our founding organizations have been dedicated to serving pets in Alachua County for more than 40 years. The Humane Society of North Central Florida is a limited intake, no-kill animal rescue shelter. The animals in our facility are transferred from open-intake and/or managed admission municipal shelters across North Central Florida. The Humane Society of North Central Florida is an independent, local 501(c)(3) organization. As such, we do not receive funding from federal agencies, nor are we affiliated with any other state or national organizations such as the Humane Society of the United States or the ASPCA.
