My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Thanks to Melissa Carlton State Farm Agent, Gerald's adoption fee is waived! With supporters like Melissa, all dogs have second chances and their futures look bright.

Hi! I am Gerald! I have been with my current foster mom and dad for a few months and I ready to find my forever home! I am about 9 years old (even though my foster mom says I don't act 9). I was found roaming the streets by a kind police officer who brought me to Gateway Pet Guardians. Because I am an older boy, I come with many perks that GPG offers to my family like free training sessions!

I am very smart and very food motivated. I love to play with treat puzzles, and I have a favorite "licky ball that my foster mom fills with frozen bone broth or goats milk and it's amazing. When the weather is bad, she likes to give me licky mats that she says works my brain even though I can't go outside. I love walks, stuffies, balls and chew bones. I love it when you come home from work. I love it so much that I will greet you with my favorite toy of the day. If I have a very special toy, I will take it outside and bury it. I'm very good at hiding my toys so that only I know where they are. I sleep all night in my crate, but I do like to have a stuffy and my favorite blanket with me. Although I'm more than happy to sleep with you if that makes you feel better! Because I came from the streets, I have some scars on my body and legs, but that doesn't stop me. I get around VERY well, but one thing that happened to me is that I have to wear a belly band because I don't always know when I have to pee. I do sometimes, but not always. I think people feel like this is a bad thing. But it' s no different than babies wearing a diaper. I don't mind them at all. I just need you to keep me clean and change them a few times a day. My foster mom says I come with about 10 of them, so you don't have to do laundry every day....she doesn't like to do laundry that often.

Gateway Pet Guardians is proud to offer a variety of mixed breed dogs available for adoption. However, please keep in mind that we rarely know the genetic background of the animals we rescue and, as such, we cannot guarantee the exact breed combinations found within this dog. However, we do not know his/her actual genetic makeup. Just know that this dog is probably a variety of several different breeds that have combined to create one very amazing and unique animal
