Here's what the humans have to say about me:
ISO: Love and plenty of treats!
Midge was rescued as a stray by our local shelter, but was chosen to participate in a very special program called H.A.L.T. In this program, she bonded with several teenage trainers who taught her basic obedience. (More about the program below.) During her month of training, Midge was full of affection for all the humans around her. Being HIGHLY treat motivated, she picked up on her training quickly. Being the perfect lady, she walks nicely on a leash and keeps her kennel clean.
Midge would be happiest in a calm household with older children. She can be the "fun police", so any additional 4-legged family member would have to be pretty chill.
Located in Knoxville, TN, H.A.L.T. (Humans & Animals Learning Together) is a non-profit program that provides therapeutic intervention for at-risk adolescents through a series of dog obedience training classes. With the help of adult volunteers, kids teach the dogs basic obedience commands, providing therapeutic intervention for the student trainers while increasing the adoptability of shelter dogs. The dogs are adopted into suitable homes after the class is complete.
