MEET SPAULDING the PEKINGESE PUPPY!!!
North New Jersey
Spaulding is an 18 month old male black and white parti CKC Registered Pekingese. He is on the larger size for a Peke at 20 lbs. He is not fat (see pics) but big boned and solid. This little guy is SUPER sweet and he LOVES being with his people and giving hugs and kissies. He is very playful with toys and other pups. He can be rambunctious and would do well with a furry playmate of equal size and strength.
He is a very good listener and knows some commands. He is housebroken and looks to his person for guidance. He knows the routine in the home well. He was bought as a puppy into a home with three young children. Unfortunately, now that he is bigger he does not appreciate being handled by small kids and he has bite history with the kids in the home.
Thus, Spaulding needs a kid-free home (no young kids living or visiting) where he can continue to thrive. In his foster home he has been the sweetest most well-behaved little guy. He was wonderful at the groomer and at the vet. He loves everyone he meets and promptly jumps in your lap and gives kissies.
He was around small kids while at the groomer and had no interest in them. So we suspect he is not trying to go after children but is not interested in living with them or being subjected to being man-handled by small children.
Spaulding has been brought UTD, neutered, chipped, dewormed, he is HW and Lyme negative, had allergy testing, and is housebroken. He also knows how to use potty pads if they are available. He is allergic to chicken and doing well on a fish-based kibble. His extensive allergy report will be shared with his new owner so you can manage to his needs and he will go home with a bag of his kibble.
Given his energy level, a fenced in yard is preferred as is another fur sibling he can romp with. He really enjoys playing and hanging out with his fur friends.
Breed experience is preferred and will be prioritized (or similar brachycephalic breeds).
Spaulding’s adoption fee is $650.
TO BE CONSIDERED, PLEASE EMAIL THE FOLLOWING PRELIMINARY DETAILS to:
adopt@gingerbreaddogs.org

- Your full name
- Full address
- Phone number
- Type home (house, condo, apt, etc.)
- Fenced-in yard details if any
- Ages of everyone living in household

- Ages of children visiting the home and frequency
- Current dogs in home: name, breed, size, and age
- If no current dogs, then your previous dogs (name, breed, age, what happened to them)
- Pekingese experience if any (or similar breeds)
- How soon are you looking to adopt?
- If approved, how soon are you able to conduct a meet & greet in north NJ?
- Your Veterinary practice references including phone number (GIVE THEM PERMISSION TO SPEAK WITH US BEFORE SENDING THIS EMAIL)
We cannot accept phone calls and PLEASE give your vet office permission to speak with rescues if you are applying to adopt from any rescue. Ask them to mark your file. If they will not speak with me, I will move on to the next application and you will not be considered.
We consider out-of-area adoptions on a case-by-case basis. All meet & greets and adoptions are held in north New Jersey and we do not transport our pups. You must come to NJ. We also do not “hold” dogs. It is first qualified, first come and our expectation is you will move quickly to conduct the meet & greet if you are approved. An approved application does not guarantee adoption of any dog from our rescue.
Note: adoption fees are not negotiable. Our typical investment in our dogs is $1,200 (since we do mostly seniors and hospice) and it goes up from there so our adoption fees do not even cover their vet bills. If you cannot afford an adoption fee, you should not be adopting any dog. They are expensive, especially these little ones!
