Here's what the humans have to say about me:
UPDATE 7/7/06: Lucky Eddie - RRUFF's 13th dog! Eddie arrived to RRUFF on January 1, 2006. Eddie is a rambunctious, goofy, large young adult Rottweiler mix ... we think Great Dane and/or possible Doberman. He is long, tall and sleek - get some manners in this boy and agility will be a blast with him!
Eddie requires an owner who can handle not only his size, but also his energy level; you tend to forget he is a youngster because he is so big! Eddie would like a large (OK, doesn't have to be huge) fenced yard, either his own or a friends would be OK with him) so he can just RUN...he has lots of energy - yet when he gets a long walk, he will settle if everyone else has settled. He loves a tennis ball and will play with one for hours!
He has made great strides infoster care - he is well mannared inhis crate, and his leash manners have improved as well. He is still a little wacky when it comes to greeting other dogs, which we think may be the result of a lack of socialization before he came to rescue, but careful introductions are key to making a happy transition for Eddie..
Eddie is a really fun dog. He recently learned some agility tricks – the tunnel, tire jump and other jumps, and he seemed to have a great time, and it definitely boosted his confidence! His basic obedience commands - sit, down, stay/wait, come and leash manners, while in foster care, have come a long way. He is no longer all over the place while out for a walk – he now walks well on a leash and handling Eddie is much easier now that he knows what is expected of him. He is a very smart boy and learns new things quickly and loves to please.
Eddie is UTD on vaccinations an d is neutered, tattooed, and on HW preventative. Eddie has a sensitive stomach and requires a special diet to maintain his weight and health. He is working hard in foster care to become an even better well-mannered young man - check back for updates on his progress!!
If you are intersted in adopting Eddie, you must visit our website and fill out an adoption application. http://www.rruff.org/adoption_application.html
