My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello there, I`m Riley, a 4-year-old Alaskan Husky mix! I`ve got energy to spare and an aura as bright as the sun. I love to play, and I`m always up for a game of fetch or a good run. I get along great with other dogs, and I`m quite the chatterbox! I`m always ready to share my thoughts with a friendly bark or two. However, I must admit, small critters aren`t my cup of tea. As a Husky, my instinct is to chase, so a home without small pets would be perfect for me. I love kids and wouldn`t mind having them around! Adopting me means gaining a loyal friend, a playful companion, and a dog who will always be excited to see you. I can`t wait to meet my forever family!

Once your app is approved, you can meet the animals you're interested in! We will have you meet one at a time in a meet and greet room.

Pay Fee

After we've gone over the animal's file and answered any questions you may have, you'll pay the adoption fee and finalize the adoption.

More about this shelter

The Humane Society of Southwest Missouri is an independent, 501(c)3 non-profit organization incorporated in 1956 and licensed by the Missouri Department of Agriculture. Funding for the organization comes from private donations. We do not receive any funding from any government agencies. We are the largest No Kill shelter in Southwest Missouri. No Kill means we do not believe in euthanizing animals for space, and we are dedicated to finding a home for every animal that comes through our doors.

We receive our animals from people giving up their pets for a variety of reasons, including changes in family situations and moving. Some of our animals have been strays rescued from the streets by a kind citizen. All of our animals are looking for permanent and loving forever homes!
