My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Sushi and I am the lovable goofy pup that doesn't always have to be next to you but enjoys having your company. My kisses are in endless supply and I love a good belly/chest scratch.

I'm a bit shy and can take some time to warm up, but will still show you love with kisses. I'm very passive and would do well in a home with another dog or multidog family. I do get the zoomies when outside and love to speed around the yard to show you my next world record score I'm going for.

Mental stimulation is an absolute must for me, puzzle games, chew toys, bones they all work well to keep me occupied. I even had a "security peacock" stuffy I took everywhere with me for a couple months.

I have been in a home with multiple kittens and even a bunny and I am disconcerned with them, I'm more interested in what is in their food bowls or their toys they leave laying around.

I taught myself to use the bell at the door to go outside, and use it when I need to go potty. I am kennel trained and do well sleeping in the kennel overnight.

Little humans love me and my kisses but sometimes i don't know my own size and can knock them down unintentionally. But don't worry I'll kiss you to make everything better.

I'm just a pup named Sushi looking for a home with some other furmates to play and interact with. Will you take me home?

More about this rescue

Our mission is to provide the programs and services needed to eliminate the killing of at-risk animals due to lack of space, adopter or foster.

San Antonio Pets Alive! is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Due to alarming euthanasia rates, San Antonio Pets Alive! (SAPA!) was founded in 2012. SAPA! is unique—it is the only high paced, high-volume rescue in San Antonio, saving 6,000 at-risk cats and dogs annually.

Since its inception, SAPA! has saved more than 47,000 dogs and cats. SAPA! provides safety nets for the dogs and cats that fall through the cracks of all other lifesaving options and end up on the euthanasia lists, often with just hours to be saved. SAPA! promotes the availability of these dogs and cats to other rescues, adopters and fosters.
