Jake (and his brother Jerry) are currently in foster care and ready for adoption! To begin the process, please submit an adoption survey and the team will reach out via email to schedule a counseling call (please check spam). For any additional questions, please contact fosternyc@bestfriends.org.
Jake is a seven-year-old handsome male tabby with a sweet and loving personality. Though he may take a bit of time to adjust to a new environment, once he feels at home, Jake transforms into a total lovebug. He adores being pet, giving head butts, and curling up on your lap. Jake is bonded with Jerry, a blind tuxedo cat, and their companionship is heartwarming. Jake enjoys catnip, treats, and lots of socialization and playtime. He will thrive in a patient and supportive home where his sweet nature can truly shine. He often acts as Jerrys "guide", its a very special relationship and amazing to be a part of their world.
Jake and Jerry are doing well in foster. Their foster noted "Jake is a shy boy but can be compelled with pets! The first day he came out of his carrier and wanted some love and time to explore. After this, he preferred his cozy spot under the bed with his brother. Jake gives some sensational head butts and loves scratches all over. Today, he's still on the shyer side but can be convinced to come out with some kissy noises (or churu treats). Jake is an excellent eater who likes having his people and his brother nearby. He is a very affectionate cat one he feels safe and comfortable.
Jake has been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and had preventative treatments to ensure he is healthy and ready for his next step. Jake is FIV+, a condition that is not transmissible to humans and does not typically impact quality or longevity of life, but may make him more susceptible to illnesses.
