Here's what the humans have to say about me:
My name is BRUCEE and I am a handsome 3 year old Red Fox Lab weighing in just shy of 75 pounds. A local shelter called SCLRR because they were completely full and wanted to know if we could take on another Lab, and SCLRR said YES! And so begins my journey to my new forever home.
My foster mom says I'm a medium energy pup, which means I settle down nicely once I get some exercise. I really enjoy my morning walks, but I get excited when I see other dogs on-leash. My Foster mom is training me to ignore other dogs during our walks, and she says I'm getting better every day. My new family will need to continue my on-leash training. The first time we went to the dog park I was really nervous. My foster mom doesn't think I spent much time with other dogs before SCLRR, so it took a few visits before I found my groove and started playing with the other dogs. My foster mom even brought me to one of our premier dog trainers for some training. I now love to play with other pups at the park. My 13 year old 4-legged foster sibling is pretty grumpy so I've learned to ignore him, but I LOVE playing with my foster mom's 4 year old chocolate Lab! My foster mom is working on my recall, and she says I'm good 75 % of the time. With a bit more training, she knows I can get to 100%!
At home I enjoy following my foster mom around the house to see what she's up to, but I don't get anxious when she leaves - I just wait for her to get home. I am completely housebroken, and non-destructive. I don't even counter-surf! My foster mom says that because of my size I may accidentally knock over really young children, so no small children please.
I need a family that will guide me with training & love, and I will repay your kindness 100-fold with loyalty and affection.
Brucee is a great dog - he is extremely loyal and loving. He would be totally fine as an only dog in a household, or with another playful, non-alpha pup that may even teach him a trick or two! He needs an experienced family who has the time to continue his training (group training classes, etc...), and provide the structure he needs to be the best dog he can be.
