Here's what the humans have to say about me:
This sweet, affectionate orange tabby lost his home when his elderly owner died a few months ago. He was born in 2018. Bernie enjoys playing interactively with you or by himself with toys, plus he enjoys watching wildlife at the window. When you come home Bernie meets you at the door, entwines around your legs, and follows you around the house. When you sit he will hop into your lap, or allows you to place him there. Bernie stays for petting and brushing. Afterwards he prefers to sit next to you.
His medium loud purr his heard quickly when he is around his known people. Bernie tolerates being picked up. He has met and likes respectful kids and is okay with general noise and activity. Bernie adores kittens and is passive with most cats. At mealtime he tells you to hurry up and feed him, but other than that, Bernie is quiet. He had free access to dry food which has caused him to be overweight. Now Bernie is on a diet, eating canned cat food and is slowly losing weight. Bernie uses scratching posts and has fine litterbox habits.
If you are gone 7 or more hours a day, please consider adopting two cats, as one cat usually gets bored. Two cats are easier to care for than one (they self-entertain while you are at work), and they are emotionally healthier (don’t get lonely and bored). Easier to do today than 1 -2 years later when you realize the need.
This cat and others are available at Cat Tales Rescue. Cats have been vet checked, spayed/neutered, wormed, tested for FIV/FeLV, have distemper and rabies shots. Adoption fees are $200+tax, and for cats age 6+ the fee is $175+tax. Calicos and Siamese are $250+tx.
