Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Oh boy, where do we begin? :) This kid, while a little bit of a rough diamond, is so endearing in his goofiness and quirks that you can’t help but want to stretch your out arms to embrace him and give him your bestest hugs, cuddles and kisses! Let’s start with Porkchop’s view of the world. He is enthralled by just about anything, like a puppy would. Things we find mundane, Porkchop thinks they are the greatest things on earth. Sudden loud noises used to spook Porkchop, but he is getting better at that. He is over hair dryers but is still afraid of bubbles that come out of an apparatus.
Porkchop loves humans. He is a Velcro dog. He will stick to you all day if you let him. Porkchop hates being crated, especially when he knows you are home. He will be quite vocal in his protest. If you must absolutely crate him, put on pop music to drown out human noises and a kong toy to keep him distracted. If you are not home, he still hates to be crated but will settle down in about 15 minutes with soft music and a kong.
Porkchop has a few commands under his belt. He knows sit, down, leave it, stay, come, and a good recall, even with high distractions. He is muzzle trained. On a walk, he will pull for 5 mins before settling into a nice pace. Porkchop follows commands like a champ. Porkchop loves to play fetch. He knows the command ‘drop it’ but executes it only 25% of the time. He is still working on it! If you can get him to ‘leave it’ before the need to ‘drop it’, you are golden :) Other favorites are sturdy chew toys. Stuffies he will eat in no time! Porkchop is food and toy motivated, which makes training him a dream.
Porkchop is great with dogs but his method of introducing himself leaves much to be desired for some dogs. You see, he comes in strong and heavy – full force face first. Unfortunately, some dogs find that intrusive and invasive :( He is best in a home with dog(s) that has similar energy, play/greet style and size. A home with a fence is a plus. We recommend securing him on a tether as well if you are not in the yard with him. He will open gates (if secured only with bungee cords or carabiners) and let himself out on a scroll in the neighborhood. Forget about putting a baby gate over the gate. He will resort to crawling under the fence. He loves being outside just a tad too much.
Porkchop is a 3-year-old, 65lb puppy. He is looking for a home where a family member is home a lot so he can spend his days lounging on the couch with his human or follow them around the house. He loves human companionship. A family who embraces his silly antics and is patient with his lack of self-awareness of his size. A home with older children and/or dogs of similar energy or oblivion is best. Porkchop’s goofiness is endearing and his snuggles are like no other. He is a dog you can take anywhere with you. He is that friendly and such a great dog! A character and a half through and through 🥰
