My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MORTICIA is a 3-year-old female Shar Pei/Pittie mix who weighs 47 lbs. The family abandoned her and the shelter got her just in time. She was extremely underweight. Despite her human experience, she's as sweet as she can be. She loves people (older children preferred) and is very good with other dogs.

We had an opening in our Paws Behind Bars program, and we had an inmate who was ready for an easy-to-train dog, (We give them a break after a difficult assignment.) so in she went. Not surprisingly, she acclimated quickly and was happy to show us how smart she is. She's a little thing, at only 47 lbs. She's one of those dogs who, depending on the angle you view her, can look like a couple of different breeds. The shape of her head and her corkscrew tail are all indicative of Shar Pei. You might think Pit Bull? but there's nothing stocky or beefy about her.

She's an athletic girl so if you're a runner, a hiker, or an outdoorsy person, she'd be a great fit. She's also got a humorous side! She doesn't mind it at all when we dress her up. She can look very dignified, and then cute as a bug!
