My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet our girl Chai! She is a 3 year old English Setter and is looking for her furever home, could that be yours? She is a medium sized girl at 47lbs.

Chai absolutely ADORES and craves human affection and attention. She will do best in an adult home where she will be a central part of her family with lots of human companionship during the day. Chai needs lots of room to safely run everyday. True to her breed, she is a high energy gal and needs her daily exercise. She loves to race around with her toys in our fenced play yard.

Chai seems to like calm dogs that play gently and may not mind a calm medium sized canine friend in her home. No cats or small dogs for Chai please.

For more information about how to make this sweet girl your next 4-legged family member, please contact Tracey at tracey.d@poainc.org and complete an adoption application at www.poainc.org.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We do have a screening and application process. Protectors of Animals requires a veterinarian check before any adoption.

One of our experienced Placement Team members will meet with you and show you the cat, kitten or dog you are interested in, or will guide you towards cats, kittens or dogs that are appropriate for your home environment. We will discuss with you the background of the cat, kitten or dog and what special needs or requirements he or she may have. We will happily take the time to carefully answer any questions you have or discuss any concerns.

POA does not charge an adoption “fee.” It costs POA anywhere from $100 and $400, or more, per dog or cat or kitten to make them well and prepare them for adoption. We are an all-donation organization and we rely on adoption donations to help us continue our work. When you adopt a cat or dog, we will ask for a donation. Our adoption donation information can be found at our website at www.poainc.org.

More about this rescue

We are a NO-Kill rescue and shelter for cats and dogs.

POA was formed in 1975 to rescue abandoned, abused and stray cats and dogs. Today we are one of the oldest and most respected animal welfare organizations in the northeast. POA is here to stay! You will not find a more dedicated, experienced or thorough resource for improving the lives of Connecticut cats and dogs. We confine our focus to our home state because this is where our infrastructure and resources reside, as well as our leadership.
