My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

While Sparky has a forever home at Big Barn as one of our sanctuary dogs, we would entertain the right applicant who sees how special this spunky boy is.

Sparky is a mischievous and handsome boy. His favorite things are playing fetch with tennis balls, snacks, and playing in the water. Rain or snow, hot or cold, Sparky will play and walk in all of it with no complaints. He is a medium to high energy dog who will be a great hiking companion-he loves walking, jogging, running etc., but he's also happy to lounge on the couch with you if it's a lazy day. He is potty trained and only uses the bathroom outside.

Sparky's ideal home would be an adult-only, pet-free home, with owners who will respect Sparky and his special needs, which include sensitivity when petting him and being mindful of introducing him to strangers. Once he makes friends with you, he is an amazing pup who will accept pets and is sure to be your best friend.

If you're looking for a hiking companion, jogging buddy, and a loyal, right-hand man, come meet Sparky at Big Barn!

More about this rescue

ALIVE Rescue is a sustainable animal rescue group committed to protecting the lives and rights of animals. We believe that every animal has the right to a well-balanced, socialized and fulfilled life. We take on the responsibility to save, rehabilitate and place abandoned, abused and stray animals. Our rescue permanently houses and cares for the animals that cannot be placed into forever homes for the duration of their natural lives. We provide medical, behavioral and physical support for animals despite their age, health, and/or breed. At ALIVE Rescue, we promote sustainable living and care-giving by building awareness, appreciation and respect for all animals and the environment within our communities. We constantly work to educate the public on current animal issues, including the benefits of spaying/neutering pets.

Since our formation in 2008, ALIVE Rescue has rescued more than 1,600 animals in the Chicago area.
