My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Captain is a very gentle, playful boy who is learning what it's like to be a house dog. This may be the first time he's lived in a house, and he loves it! He especially loves being in the same room with his foster mom. He so appreciates her!

Captain came to APA! after being hit by a car and becoming partially paralyzed in his back legs. Despite his injury, he still has quite a lot of mobility and can run around the yard and chase squirrels.

His back feet drag behind him a bit, so he wears boots to protect them. His foster mom puts them on every morning and takes them off every night. It's easy because he is used to them. When he goes for long walks with her, he uses a wheelchair which he loves. He prefers to walk in quiet parks since cars whizzing by scare him.

Captain lives with five small dogs. They get along just fine and stay home alone during the day. He can be reserved with new people but given an introduction and a little time to get acquainted, he warms up and becomes friendly with them. Captain is also attending Doggy Daycare to help him get used to new people and places.

Because of his injury, Captain is incontinent and must wear a belly band. His foster has found one that works well and the incontinence is not hard to deal with at all.

Captain has a big heart and will love a home with parents who can give him lots of attention, lift him into his wheelchair, and take him for walks. He will also do well with an outgoing, friendly doggy pal. Come offer him a house and he'll follow you home!
