Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Watch out, reality baking shows: Usagi is a Master Kneader! Though she prefers to knead while cuddling next to you on a soft blanket. We prefer that, too, and have crowned her Champion! It's a win-win.
Usagi is super affectionate and adores everything and everyone! She has a calm and snuggly nature and loves to be held while getting neck scritches. She is soooo sweet, and has been good with adults and the kids she has met!
Usagi was friends with the other cats and the big dog in her previous foster home, and would organize them into games of hide-and-seek. Similarly, while in the shelter, Usagi groomed, played, and cuddled with her feline roommates. She seems to choose her favorite besties that are calm and sweet, similar to her!
Usagi loves to play, though not roughly. She is an expert zoomer and runs around with joyful glee. She likes scratchers and the laser toy, as well as rolling around with toys that spin, roll, or crinkle! She climbs cat towers and perches to survey her kingdom.
She also hops like a bunny! And since "Usagi" means rabbit or hare in Japanese, this little girl lives up to her name. She is a Manx and doesn't have a tail, which gives her a bunny-like tail. She was born with Manx syndrome, which is where the tail is shortened or absent, and the spine is shortened because it didn't develop properly. Because her back legs didn't develop typically, when she walks, runs, and hops she uses her front legs to steady herself. She is a happy, cheerful, curious, and independent girl with the heart of an explorer!
The Manx syndrome gave Usagi fecal and urinary incontinence, which means you have to help her go pee and poop by pressing on her bladder and bowel a few times during the day. It's called "manual expression", and APA! will show you how and make sure you are comfortable with it. Caring for an incontinent cat is easier than you may think! Check out this video: bit.ly/CatExpressionDemo
She may move around a little differently than other cats, but as you can tell, she doesn't let it hold her back! Usagi is a gal with deep thoughts and funny observations, and she likes to tell you about them. She's chatty, always ready to start an interesting conversation with you.
Usagi is looking for a home with people who can encourage her to be her happiest self while taking great care of her medical needs! Somewhere with a bunch of room to hop around and a place to snuggle up with soft blankets sounds ideal to her. Well, almost ideal, because what would make it ideal is with people to love-love-love, and a nice cat to be her buddy!
Usagi is bright, loving, and confident. She may require extra care, but doing so creates an unshakable bond between you and her. She is soooo much more than her special needs!
Contact us today to learn more and arrange a meet & greet!
All APA! cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Lifetime support is offered by our Cat Behavior Team.
