Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Have you met Akasha? When you do, she will treat you like a old friend that she hasn't seen in soooo long. Right off the bat, she's your buddy, she's your pal! She loves to be pet and she loves people. She's a happy girl!
And Akasha will play with pretty much any toy you offer her! She's very easy to please.
Akasha came to APA! with paresis of her back legs, which means that her back legs don't work the way they should; we have no idea why. Does that keep her from showing her joy? Nope! She will do adorable little kicks with her back legs to show her jubilance when you give her love.
The paresis gave Akasha incontinence, which means she needs someone to press on her bladder a few times a day to help her go pee. She seems to think this manual expression of her bladder is another way that humans give her love, and she is happy and sweet when you give her this type of "affection!" As you can tell, in every other way Akasha is a "normal" kitty - affectionate, curious, and a great best friend!
Caring for an incontinent cat is easier than you may think. Want proof? Check out this video: bit.ly/CatExpressionDemo
Akasha can live with other cats amicably, but prefers to hang out in her own space. She is looking for a loving home with people who will give her snuggles and press on her bladder (which she apparently considers a type of cuddling). Contact us today to arrange a meet & greet!
All APA! cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Lifetime support is offered by our Cat Behavior Team.
For further information or to meet Akasha, please email adopt@austinpetsalive.org.
