My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Affectionate, Endearing, Confident

Some of the best things in life include birdsong in the morning, a great apple, a walk in a sunny park...and our Sunny Park, who is like a little beam of sunshine, wherever she goes!

Aptly named, Sunny leads with her happy and warm heart. Super-extra-highly affectionate, she loves people and will always choose to be in the same room with you, just keeping you company while you do your busy human things. Sit down, and she's your snuggle buddy! She could sit in your lap for days while you pet her; she will give your face sweet kisses in return. She is a lap cat, through-and-through! The young kids in her foster home adore her, and Sunny adores them right back. She is friendly with all people, even if she has just met you!

Sunny has a curious and inquisitive personality and will spend time bopping around the house, finding interesting things to explore. Her favorite toys are wand toys that you wave around - and the fringe on the edges of a rug! So fun to bat at!

We are confident that Sunny has always had a charming, outgoing, and loving nature, and that hasn't changed a bit, despite having mostly-paralyzed back legs. She came to APA! with a bullet lodged in her spine, which might make anyone change their view of life and decide to be cranky; not Sunny! She just motors on, adapting, and loving everyone in her path.

As a result of her mostly-paralyzed back legs, Sunny is incontinent. She needs her human to press on her bladder ("manually express") a few times a day to help her go. She is easy to express, and APA! will show you how and make sure you are comfortable with it. Here's a video to show you how easy it can be! bit.ly/CatExpressionDemo

She requires some extra care, including feeding her a wet food diet, giving her a sink bath now and then (she loves it!), and keeping an eye on her back legs to make sure they stay abrasion-free as she cheerfully pulls herself around the house with her front legs!

The kids in her foster home help care for Sunny by feeding her and playing with her! You can create spaces around the house for her by laying down a towel or blanket, and she will recognize them as "hers", lounging on them while she keeps you company. She is a happy, calm, and content little lady.

Sunny's ideal home is with people...people who are home a lot, people who are adults or kids, and any people who could be her new friend! She revels in having her own family to hang out with, to love, to play with, and to love some more. Her humans should be patient and able to create a routine for her, which makes things simpler. Contact APA! for more information and tips!

Sunny is such a pretty orange and white tabby, and as a female orange tabby, is rather uncommon! On top of that, she will sometimes give you her over-the-top-cute and very special "silent meow."

Hands-down, Sunny is likely the sweetest animal you will ever meet. Contact us today to arrange a meet & greet!

All APA! cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Lifetime support is offered by our Cat Behavior Team.
