My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Age: 3 years old

Gender: Female

Breed: Malinois-Shepherd mix

Weight: 61 lbs

Personality: Super Nova is such a good girl and so grateful to have been rescued! She's very sweet to people she knows and familiar dogs, she is nervous around new things (dogs and people included). She has a medium amount of energy and is happy with some mental and physical workout. She is very smart, loving and loyal to her people. She is still gaining confidence in the big world out there but slowly gets better everyday. She sleeps in the crate and does well on her own. She is working on leash reactivity and trusting new people into the home but she is quick to learn! Once she opens up, she is such a delight!

Education: Good with bathroom, crate and leash training

Favorite Activities: Loves car rides, walks, playing with her dog friends, snuggling with her humans and chewing on yummy bones

Looking for: A fun and active family! She would do well with a confident dog friend(but not super necessary) and older kids. Medium active would be best for her. She does okay alone but doesn't like to be left for the whole day. She'd rather a home without a lot of new people in and out.

Special needs: A patient family, willing to help her out with some fear based anxieties of new things.

Adoption Fee: $ 400

Wonderful notes by her foster mama: Nova has the sweetest disposition and soul. She loves to love on people she knows and dogs she trusts. She is eager to please and extremely food motivated which makes it easy to train her and redirect her attention and make friends. She has improved so much in my home and I know she can be the best dog to a family. she needs a slower intro to people and dogs but has great body language queues, is very gentle and can learn how to trust. She has never been aggressive or shown any aggressive behaviors to the people and dogs she trusts. She is truly the sweetest girl who just wants to love and be loved and is just unsure of the world because of her past probably. she's already showing more confidence and is neutral in public places in the short amount of time I've had her! Catch her on IG @daniellebatakis

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane.
Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational.
All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times.
All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise.
Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000.
Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc.

More about this rescue

Overview
The Animal Pad is a nonprofit, all-breed dog rescue devoted to saving the lives of dogs facing euthanasia at high kill animal shelters and off the streets of Mexico. We rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home locally.

We are dedicated to animal advocacy, and educating dog owners on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. We are a foster based rescue, and rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of the amazing people who make donations toward the rescue and care of the dogs we save.

We are always looking for adopters, fosters, donations, volunteers, etc.. Please let us know if you would like to get involved by contacting us at one of the email addresses found below.
