My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Ernest, a sweet and loyal, 7 year old, 20-pound Miniature Poodle. Ernest is an incredibly affectionate dog who loves nothing more than cuddling up next to his favorite humans. Although Ernest doesn't love his feet being touched but our kennel staff is working on that with him. Ernest is slowly making progress with his feet being handled. He is dog selective and happiest as an only dog. Ernest is well behaved on leash. He is house trained, but will need to learn your routine.

Ernest prefers a calm and predictable routine. He can be a little shy when he first meets new people, but he warms up quickly with some patience and gentle encouragement. Ernest would prefer a home without children, but would be happy to nap in his crate if children visit occasionally. If you're a patient and understanding person looking for a loyal companion to share your life with, Ernest could be the perfect match for you.

Adoption fee is waived to the right home.

All adoptions require a completed application, vet check, home check and final contract. The application to adopt can be found at www.camorescue.com.

Up to date vaccines, microchip, spay/neuter are included in the fee.

Once your application has been approved, we will put you in touch with a CAMO Representative to set up a meet and greet. We are a RESCUE, not a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We select the best applicant for each dog, based on the dog's needs. For the safety of our small breed dogs and based on our past experiences, we will not place our dogs in homes with large breed dogs.

CAMO rescue is a 501c3 whose primary focus is rescuing small dogs from the euthanasia list from high kill TX shelters.

More about this rescue

CAMO Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that offers life, health, and a forever home. We specialize in dogs that other rescues can’t or won’t take due to fearful nature or medical needs. We primarily rescue ‘euthanasia listed’ animals that are in immediate danger of death. We provide shots, spay/neuter, microchip, foster homes, food, medical treatment and love to dogs that are abandoned, unwanted or otherwise in need. We never euthanize an animal to make room for another. In addition to caring for our dogs and finding the best possible home for them, we provide education to the community; encouraging and promoting responsible pet ownership. If needed, our rescue dogs are retrained to socialize in an adoptive loving family. We have had phenomenal success, and amazing support from our community. We believe that animals, as living creatures are entitled to a quality life, respect and compassion. Since humans have domesticated animals, we have a moral and ethical responsibility to care for them. We are partnered with many Shelters to help them reach the same goal.
