Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Are you looking for a furry friend who is not only incredibly well-trained but also a bundle of love and energy? Look no further, because Bowen, our 1-year-old husky/golden retriever mix, is in search of a new forever home, and he could be the perfect addition to your family.
Because of unfortunate circumstances, Bowen's current owner will no longer be able to take care of Bowen and now Bowen is heartbreakingly in need of a new home.
About Bowen: Bowen is a unique blend of intelligence, playfulness, and affection. Here are some insights into his personality and preferences:
Bowen is a very social dog. He loves people, including strangers, and is very affectionate and adores giving kisses. He really loves gentle belly rubs and calming massages
Bowen LOVES food and is very food motivated. This helps greatly with training and makes him a quick learner. He responds well to positive reinforcement and very proud and happy when praised. Bowen, in particular, loves yak cheese chews.
Bowen is an active dog. His new owner should be someone that can take him to the beach or on hikes and stimulate him both physically and mentally. Bowen especially loves water and delights in swimming and playing fetch in the water. At home, he’s a fan of games like scent games, puzzle games, and hide-and-seek. He’s also just happy to chase you around. In new environments, he may need some encouragement to settle, which can be facilitated through his crate or his 'mat' command.
Bowen thrives when he can run and play with other high-energy dogs. He is very play-oriented with a high energy play style but without any signs of aggression. However, he can get overly stimulated at times in the presence of other dogs if prevented from releasing his pent up excitement through play. This is fairly typical of high energy breeds however, it is an aspect that can prove challenging to a new owner unfamiliar with that type of behavior. Bowen has been working with a dog trainer for strategies to manage his energy and has 1-2 sessions remaining. These training sessions will be transferred to the new adopter.
Bowen is a quiet dog who doesn't bark or whine. While he handles grooming well, he may need someone to feed him kibble as a distraction during certain tasks like nail trimming or ear cleaning.
Bowen would be most comfortable in a quiet home with a yard, away from busy streets. Bowen has met cats before and didn't show much interest, but he had other dogs around to distract him. In a household with only cats, he might be curious and attempt to play with them. If going to a household with other dogs, they should also be a high-energy dog or a larger dog capable of setting boundaries during play.
Bowen is neutered and up-to-date on all vaccinations. He is crate trained and potty trained. He currently weighs 50lbs.
If Bowen's vibrant personality and unique qualities align with your lifestyle and preferences, please consider welcoming him into your home. Contact us to learn more about Bowen or arrange a meeting to see if he's the perfect fit for your family. Let's find Bowen the loving and understanding home he deserves!
