Here's what the humans have to say about me:
**WE ARE ALSO LOOKING FOR A COMMITTED FOSTER**
Are you up for a challenge? Looking to show a damaged dog what real love is?
Benny just might be the dog for you!
We rescued Benny, a 9 year old, male Schipperke/Chihuahua mix, from the Palmdale Shelter where he was set to be euthanized that night due to overcrowding. We were told he was feisty and mouthy and they were not wrong about that, but we knew this little guy deserved a chance! We have learned a lot about Benny and can see exactly what he needs...
Benny is like a tough guy with a deep down soft interior that just needs that special home to bring that out in him. He needs a calm and non chaotic, adult only home, preferable single female... as we see that too much stimulation riles him up. He is good with other dogs, but we would really like to see him get some one on one attention to help him become the best dog he can. He will test you, but you need to show him who's boss. Slow touch is what he needs to feel safe. Fast touching and grabbing can result in him getting mouthy. He loves belly rubs...his absolute fave! A home with a safe and secure yard would be great! He seems to get the hang of potty training quickly with outdoor access. He recently had a disc issue in his spine, but surgery was not needed and he does need Gabapentin daily along with Cosequin for his joints. Small and shorts walks are ok, but nothing beyond that. A home with no stairs is a must, so he does not reinjure his back. Poor Benny was dumped like trash out on the streets and was probably kept as an outdoor dog all his life. You can see in his eyes that he led a rough life, but we promised him that we will find him a forever home that understands what he went through and will not give up on him!

Benny is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped.
