Atticus first came to our shelter as an adorable 6-month-old puppy in September 2023, with big floppy ears and a sweet personality to match. He was quickly adopted the same month, but like all puppies do, Atticus grew up! Now, he's an 82-pound handsome gentleman. Unfortunately, Atticus was recently retuned to us, as the responsibility of this big guy was now too much. In the year he was away, Atticus wasn't kept on heartworm prevention, so it was a surprise to no one when that positive line immediately popped up on his heartworm test. Atticus is still the same goofy, affectionate, and attentive dog he was as a pup. He loves meeting new people (especially kids) and has proven that he would make a wonderful family dog. He's a 100% certified good boy, and all he needs now is the heartworm treatment to be able to live his best life with the devoted family he deserves. We need to raise $270 to cover the remaining cost. Thank you for supporting this sweet boy!
To meet Atticus, please call 843-249-4948 to schedule an appointment, or you can submit an application at https://humanesocietynmb.org/dog-adoption-form/

HSNMB does not hold animals and all adoptions are done on a first-come, first-served basis in person at the shelter. Once the adoption is completed and the fee is paid, you must take the animal with you at that time.
Please be sure to bring a photo ID and cash or a credit card for the adoption fee. The primary caregiver is required to be present to go through the adoption process. Any children 5 and under and, in some cases, any existing dogs living in the home will be required to be present and meet the animal prior to adopting. Meet and greets are not required for all animals, but may be deemed necessary by HSNMB staff for specific pets.
Adoption Fees:
Cats (over 6 months of age): $60
Kittens (under 6 months of age): $100
Dogs (over 6 months of age): $110
Puppies (under 6 months of age): $140
Seniors ages 60 and up qualify for discounted adoptions fees.
