Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Sable is a young (born 5.5.22) spayed female Akita. She is up to date on vaccines, microchipped, on flea/heartworm prevention, heartworm negative, house trained, crate trained, and leash trained. Sable was initially surrendered to us after a Good Samaritan saved her from being left in a crate outside a store. She was adopted in July 2022, but, as she matured, she began to fight with another dog in the home. Sable is a sweet girl, but is a bit shy in general, and dog reactive to dogs who are loud or reactive themselves. Sable would be fine in a home by herself or with a mellow male canine friend.

We require anyone interested in one of our orphans fill out an application. If that is approved, we will do a home inspection and then have the whole family, including any dogs, come meet the dog(s) they are interested in. We ask an adoption donation of $350; this helps defer the costs of veterinary care and daily upkeep of our orphans. We are non-profit and all funds come from public donations.

We are a federal non-profit corporation, with 501(c)(3) designation, dedicated to helping Akitas in need. We generally serve Virginia, North Carolina, and parts of South Carolina, but we work where the Akitas need us to! We offer adoptable dogs, rescue, education, and support to Akita owners and adopters nation wide. We are recognized by the Akita Club of America (ACA) and abide by their Code of Ethics.
It is our goal to help Akitas in need, educated the public about this wonderful breed, and support Akita owners with any problems they may be having. We primary pull our Akitas from shelters, and we will help an owner re-home an Akita, if necessary, by courtesy listing on our site, assisting with screening applicants, and providing advice on training and behavioral issues.
