My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Jimmy came to Help as a slightly older kitten, from an extreme animal overpopulation situation, which caused him to miss out on some important healthy socialization opportunities with humans when he was very young. He is now a young adult cat, who is very healthy, handsome, curious, smart, and energetic, but who can also be shy around new people, needing some patience and time to get to know them (yummy treats, like Squeeze-Ups, help break the
ice). He is social and comfortable with other cat friends and does not like being a loner, but his curiosity and playful energy can be a bit much at times for more shy, “wallflower” kitties. He loves snacking, playing, and exploring, and he also loves spending time lounging on a soft blanket in a sunny window with a buddy
and a view of the birds outside. For a cat like Jimmy, the person (or people) willing to invest the patience, time, and love into building his confidence and forming a bond with him will be rewarded with a lifetime of awesomeness with this handsome and very deserving cat!

More about this shelter

Who We Are:

HELP Humane: HELP Humane Inc. is a non-profit organization currently run by a small group of animal lovers in Cass County, MO (just south of Kansas City).

All HELP animals are treated by veterinarians receive age appropriate vaccinations, dewormed, spayed/neutered and those incoming after Oct 2005, have been micro chipped. Cats have been Feluk/FIV tested and are negative unless otherwise stated. Dogs have been heartworm tested and are on heartworm preventative.

HELP now has a no-kill shelter. HELP does not take in any owner relinquished animals. HELP rescues stray dogs and cats from the streets. We have been told by many adopters that the reason they liked adopting form us is because we have a happy place and all the cats are the friendliest ones they had ever met. HELP feels that ALL animal’s are worth saving. We have many FIV and FeLV+ cats in our care. They will live with us until they end their life’s journey or find a permanent home.

Currently we are in a financial crisis and desperately need more funding to continue our mission. We are also currently in need of foster homes. The more foster homes we have, the more pets we can help. We also need more volunteers and a grant writer. Of course donations of money and/or pet supplies are most helpful.

Our regular monthly meetings are at 7:00pm, the 1st Tuesday of each month. At our Shelter at 17122 Bel Ray Place, Belton, MO 64012.
