My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bear craves hugs, cuddles, kisses, snuggles and snoozes on the couch with my person.  Any form of affection, words of praise, Bear will soak right up just like sunshine!  Despite his earlier, poor life with humans who didn't care much about him, he really loves ALL people.

Bear's perfect family would be older children and adults since he sometimes doesn't realize what a big dude he is. Bear loves his feline friends a bit too much, so he would be best in a home without them, as well as being the only dog in the home. He just deserves all the love!!

Bear has made great progress leash walking, considering he was a 24/7 outdoor dog before rescue. He responds well to "good boy", "wait", and lots of treats. He adores car rides even if he doesn't have a destination and is the perfect backseat passenger!

Bear is well-behaved, patient, and quiet in a home setting. He puts himself in his crate at night while in his foster home by 8pm, but would easily be trusted to just sleep on a couch all night, if allowed.  He is non-destructive, doesn't counter surf or beg for food, potty and crate trained. During family dinner time, he listens when told to "go lay down" and knows to leave the people to enjoy their meal. He loves stuffed squeaky toys, Nylabones and Kongs to chew on, and balls or frisbees to chase in the yard. A few rounds of play in the yard will tire Bear out for awhile. He is playful, but not a high energy dog. He is mostly a pretty chill dude.

Bear wants nothing more than to please his humans and is looking for a human of his own <3

Happy Feet Pet Rescue, located in Lansing, MI, operates as a foster-based rescue, providing our animals with home environments for their well-being. We are dedicated to carefully matching each rescue animal with the most suitable homes. Our adoption process includes an initial adoption phone interview, reference checks, vet checks, a thorough application review, and opportunities for meet and greets.

Please note that we have a policy of not adopting dogs expected to exceed 50lbs to individuals living in apartment or condo settings. We are firmly against declawing cats and only endorse adopting our feline friends as indoor cats.

If you're interested in meeting one of our wonderful pets, we kindly ask you to complete an adoption application. Alternatively, you can explore the rewarding experience of becoming a dog or cat foster parent. This provides an excellent opportunity to interact with various personalities and animals before committing to a long-term relationship.
