HISTORY:
Manuka came to us from a local animal control facility. She was found in a motel with her mother and the cat we assume was her father.
ABOUT:
Manuka is a friendly, gentle, outgoing kitten. She will run right up to you to greet you upon arrival. She loves attention and playing and will even bring you her ball to throw. She loves interactive play but is very gentle. Although an energetic kitten, she also enjoys a good amount of alone time sunbathing, usually somewhere close by. If you’re busy she is happy to carry her ball around and play by herself.
Manuka is not being fostered with children but because she is generally gentle and easy going her foster thinks she would adapt just fine to homes with children. Manuka has done great with another (non-sibling) kitten she was paired up with and is also very curious, but respectful of the resident adult cats. Manuka has also been exposed to the resident german shepherd. She is cautious, but her foster thinks she would adjust to homes with friendly dogs who won’t be overwhelming as she gets comfortable.
We generally recommend that kittens be adopted into homes in pairs (when available) or into a home with another playful cat so that they have someone to play with to help keep them out of mischief. Manuka would probably love being adopted into a home with a social cat or dog, but we think she would be ok as an only pet as long as her adoptive family is committed to giving her the attention and enrichment that kittens require.
