My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Royce had the same home for nine years -- all his life. However, he spent the last several years in the garage. The people said he wasn't good with other pets or kids. It seems like it was basically a situation of incompatibility that escalated. His former people seemed to feel he was not a nice cat, which saw him banished from the family. Yet even as a new fellow at the shelter, surrounded by the sounds and scents of many other animals, Royce showed the volunteers that he's a gentle guy who longs for love. When a volunteer came to meet him, she spent quite a bit of time petting him. He was unsure at first but he soon crept out of his nest toward her, hungering for the pets she offered. He looked up at her with soulful inquiry in his eyes, as though asking if it was really true that she wanted to be his friend. He was calm and meek the whole time. (See all this in his video below.) We have not seen any sign of unpleasantness in him at all! In fact, Royce is a good member of his communal room who stays out of trouble and is always there to greet us lovingly when we come in. In the months since he arrived at the shelter, Royce has been nothing but gentle and affectionate. He has had a tough life and has probably felt insecure and very lonely for most of it. He only needs to find the right match of home. It's clear that there's a lot of love in him that he yearns to share with someone who can love him back. Come and meet this handsome boy. You might find your new best friend and Royce might find happiness at last.

Royce was born around the middle of 2001.
