My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meatball was part of a colony that got out of control. When his elderly caretaker went to the hospital, he and his colony were left to fend for themselves for awhile. When he came to us, Meatball (formerly Spicy Meatball) was completely feral and had no idea what it was like to be friends with a person. After a couple of months of working with him, I was able to earn his trust. Now, he is people-friendly and loves to be pet. His one flaw that remains is that he does NOT like being scruffed or put in a carrier. If he feels pinned down, he will panic and run away. I usually handle this with an oven mitt on one hand and the carrier in my other hand.

He loves other cats, likely a result of being raised in a colony. He helps take care of the new cats, especially the new kittens that come into the foster room. We call him the "welcome committee." But Meatball has seen so many other cats come and go. He has been in the foster room, with our rescue, for almost ten months. It's his turn to find his forever home. He would be good as an inside cat or a well fed barn cat. He's a really sweet and playful cat, and he just needs someone to give him a chance!

More about this rescue

Our rescue may be small, but we have a big mission. George County animals are terribly underserved and uncared for as a whole. Many animals are abandoned or neglected with no safe place to go for help. Many kind people are forced to care for those helpless creatures that are dumped on their doorstep. But their space, money, and time are limited. Lucky’s Little Rescue was inspired by one of these animals that was abused and left to fend for herself. Lucky reminds us every day why our mission is so important. As a rescue, we aim to provide love and care to as many of those forgotten furry companions as we can. Though we may be limited at first, we hope to build a reliable and trustworthy network of fosters to better serve the community and neighboring communities. It is our dream, and our mission, to make sure that animals in our county no longer have to suffer mistreatment and cruel indifference. And that all animals will one day know what it means to be a part of a family.
