Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Name: June Bug
Nicknames: Juniper. Juney. Nugget. JB.
Breed: Pitbull mix
Sex: Female
Age: ~4 years
Weight: 36 lbs.
Medical deets: Found as a stray and came into rescue with skin issues, a severe ear infection, and a hip completely out of its socket. She has now had FHO surgery for her hip and has a beautiful itch-free coat thanks to apoquel and a quality fish-based diet.
Unfortunately, after multiple ear treatments, her right ear could not be saved and she will be joining the no ear(s) no problem club at the end of September when she goes in for ear ablation surgery.
Descriptors: Happy Hippo. Short Stack. Adorable. Social. Smooshy. Bestie. Breed Ambassador.
Energy level: Not hyper or overly energetic but does love her daily walks. Overall, she's a go with the flow type of girl. If you want to go on an adventure, she's game. You wanna lay on the couch all day? Also, game.
Affection level: Medium-high. Loves to cuddle and be with her person. At night, she likes to be touching her person when she is laying down but happily keeps to the bottom of the bed at night.
What we love most: Her little grunts and squeals of excitement. Her full body wiggle when she sees her person for the first time every morning (it's like she forgot she was sleeping next to them all night), or after they have been out of the house for a little bit. How she will follow her person everywhere.
But also: She wears pajamas. She's the absolute perfect compact size (and temperament) to pick up and carry around....you might as well look into a baby bjorn.
What she loves most: People. Grass. Sun.
Working on: Keeping 4 on the floor (ie: less jumping)...she just loves people so dang much and needs to reign in that exuberance when meeting them. Keeping her mouth to herself (ie: no mouthing...which is more so like firm gumming) when feeling playful.
Kids: While everyone is a friend to JB, she is best suited for older, sturdier kiddos since she is still working on her jumping and mouthing when excited.
Dogs: Sure! She has lived with multiple different dogs while in rescue. If a dog is playful, she is happy to play and if a dog would prefer to chill she will happily chill beside them.
Cats: Not formally tested yet, but we suspect she may be fine with a dog saavy cat
Housebroken: Yes
Crate trained: Not exactly. She is currently crated when foster mom is at work, but she sounds like a Pterodactyl and will pee if in the crate if it's been more than a few hours. We do suspect she may be able to handle being uncrated when her forever family isn't home, but will need to gate her off somewhere safe.
June Bug is spayed, vaccinated, heartworm negative, and microchipped. She is available for adoption to CT and surrounding states. If you are interested in adopting, please complete an application from omdrescue.org
