My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Originally rescued in January of 2022 with his sibling, Tofu was the shy one of the bunch, and has always preferred cats to people. He is all white with black spots and a black tail, or as I like to say a cat cow. The thing Tofu loves the most is spending time with other cats. He is very shy with humans, but almost every day I see him cuddling and playing with the other 3 cats in the house.

One of my favorite things about Tofu is, well, how awkward and ungraceful he is. He wiggles around so much in his sleep that it's not uncommon to catch him slipping off the couch or falling out of his cat bed. Somehow he manages to be shocked by his tail every time he sees it, and will roll around playing with it. He loves chasing toys, sleeping in windows, and cuddling under soft blankets. I’ve even caught him a few times dragging blankets into other parts of the house to get a better nap spot.

The decision to rehome Tofu did not come lightly, and is not something I ever thought would happen when I adopted him. About a year ago, my partner unexpectedly passed away. After much consideration, I made the decision to move away from LA to give myself space to process grief, trauma, and overall work on improving my mental health. Tofu was bonded to my partner, and we would regularly say that he chose him as his person. When he passed I took in his two cats, which meant 4 cats in my home. I was making things work for a while but I need to spend some time focusing on myself and rebuilding my life, which unfortunately means needing to rehome Tofu in the process.

We'd love to help Tofu heal as well, and are open to a long term foster to adopt situation where he will have the time needed to adjust and bond to a new home.

If you're ready to help Tofu overcome his grief, please head to SaveKittensLA.org & send us an adoption application! We do very high volume spay/neuter, but we take an extremely personalized approach to all the babies we rescue. We NEVER adopt kitties who will be allowed to go outside or declawed & we require all our adopters understand a FOREVER home means 15+ years. Please note all applicants will be subject to a home check before an adoption is finalized.
