My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Marty is a sweet easy-going little poodle mix who is about 10 years old and weighs 12 pounds. He was most likely abandoned by his owner and ended up in a high-kill shelter. Poor Marty languished there while younger dogs around him were adopted. Marty's time was up. Fortunately, we found him in the nick of time.

This affectionate, mellow fellow is a wonderful companion and just wants to be near you. Marty is a happy dog who is great on a leash and enjoys car rides and exploring new places. He's polite with strangers and well-behaved. He's social with everyone he meets, gets along great with other dogs, and is sweet and gentle with kids. Marty is super docile and would also be fine with cats. This little guy is just about as perfect as you can get.

He has a condition called dry eye in one eye which will require daily eye drops -- our rescue organization will provide those on an ongoing basis.

Truth is, there are never any guarantees about length of life with any dog (or human for that matter). Small dogs like Marty can live up to 20 years, so you still have the opportunity to give him the best years of his life!
