Here's what the humans have to say about me:
We hope all you beagle lovers out there will read this post and not just pass him by because of how rough Harvey looks in these pictures. He is the SWEETEST boy we have ever met. Our vet thinks he is much younger than he looks. This poor boy has had a rough life and came in with such a terrible flea infestation he does have a lot of hair missing, but it will grow back and we believe he will be a beautiful boy. He is probably only about 7-8 years old.
He is a happy dog who always loves to see his people and wags his tale. He won't bother the neighbors because the foster parents have never heard a bark.
Harvey is very laid back, but he loves to be loved and petted. He has never had an accident in the house, and very "unbeagle-like," he goes out, finds a spot and takes care of business quickly. He likes being with his people, but he is also fine if he is in his crate while you run an errand or two.
Harvey would make a wonderful dog for a family who wants a companion to hang out with. He will go for walks but doesn't need long hikes or lots of exercise. He is an older guy but still has lots of life left to live. We know since he wasn't feeling good when he first arrived he probably just needed lots of rest, and now that he is doing much better he may end up acting more "beagle" like and could start barking, digging, chasing critters and doing all sorts of beagle things, but currently he is pretty chill. He does fine around other dogs and kids.
You won't find a sweeter guy! We think he does have hearing loss and we can't determine how much he can hear. He seems to do really well around other dogs so hopefully we can find him a home that does have another dog as a companion.
He is vaccinated, neutered, and tested negative for heartworms. We sure hope someone will want to give this older guy a wonderful, loving home. He deserves it!
