My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Our Gorgeous Bonnie is a laid back beauty who has an ideal loving personality. She came to us a few months ago, as a two years old, from a Louisiana shelter where she had no adoption prospects. After Bonnie tested positive for Heartworm, she was fast tracked for Euthanasia. Rural shelters rarely have funds for Heartworm Treatment, and many dog owners do not provide adequate prevention.

We invited Bonnie to our Connecticut rescue so we could heal her mild Heartworm and prepare her for life as a Yankee. We can't wait to see her experience snow!

We believe Bonnie is a Bluetick Coonhound, with classic tri color markings. She is a large muscular girl, at 58 pounds, but she is a gentle soul who does not overwhelm her handlers. Her breed instincts are a mixed bag of scent dog attributes, but she is also a loving companion and great all around family dog.

Bonnie's ideal adopter would be a moderately active single or couple, who can provide a few leisurely leash walks each day, as well as alot of companionship. Bonnie would do well with experienced, confident dog owners, who understand the importance of ongoing discipline and obedience work, and are willing to continue Bonnie on her path to Canine Good Citizenship. She's almost there!

We have had a blast with Bonnie. We've taken her walking and swimming, and have polished her commands and manners. She thrives in the outdoors, and has a delightful, playful vibe. Bonnie is extremely affectionate and revels in any human contact. The more attention that Bonnie gets, the better. She is not a dog who will be happy relegated to the backyard and ignored.

We think that Bonnie could easily join a multi-dog home, with other respectful dogs. She seems to enjoy canine companionship. She could do well with older kids who are gentle with dogs. We have not had her around cats.

Bonnie's house manners have improved with ongoing training and discipline, but she sometimes has an older puppy vibe, and may need an occasional correction about jumping on guests or counter surfing. Bonnie is mostly house trained and crate trained, but adopters should expect to troubleshoot the occasional accident that will inevitably occur during her transition to a new home. She is in great health, and is recovering nicely from Heartworm treatment.

Bonnie is fully vetted, and has had all routine vaccines and health screenings. She will be spayed before final adoption. If you are interested in Bonnie, please write to Angelsfrmgod@gmail.com or call/text Denise at 860-908-9738 for more info.
