Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Where do we start with Joey?! Joey is simply everything good in a dog. His #1 priority in life: people. He loves people more than any dog we’ve ever been around. He wants your attention at all times without being annoying, loves to be pet and will push your hand when you stop and is obsessed with snuggling. Second to people, this boy loves his toys. He loves if you play with him or he’ll adorably throw his toys in the air to play all by himself if you’re not available. Joey also LOVES walks although he thinks he can go further than his body might allow. As soon as he sees the leash come out he jumps up and down with excitement.
We think Joey is anywhere from 8-10 years old. He is roughly 80 pounds. He may be a senior but he’s got SO much life in him. His personality shines through in every way. Which says a lot because you can tell he has been through a lot. He has signs of a prior injury to his left ear, random scars and came to us very very skinny. He makes progress every day though and you’d never know that people let him down because he loves them so much.
While certainly not a deal breaker, we think Joey may do best being the only dog in the home. He has been getting along with our dog but his love for people has him resource guarding us every now and then (gets a little tense when he has to share attention with our dog). He’s indifferent to our dog in terms of having any interest in playing/interacting. He doesn’t really pay attention to him at all and isn’t reactive to other dogs on walks at all- all he cares about is his people!! He’s truly a PERFECT companion dog and just craves love. He’s the happiest, goofiest boy. Cherry on top? He is SO well behaved- he listens like a champ, is great on a leash, not people or animal reactive, knows sit, down, shake and more. He isn’t crazy about crates but he is fine with a dog bed left out, he’s completely housebroken.
There’s so much more we could say about Joey but he has our heart and we know he whoever gets him will be so lucky. The only thing more rewarding than saving a senior dog is saving a senior dog that craves love like Joey. He will spend every day thanking you.
