My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Hera: Queen of the Doggie Pantheon

Just like her namesake, Hera is a goddess who knows what she wants-adventure and relaxation, in perfect balance. With two divine moods, she loves exploring the outdoors and then basking in the sunshine on the couch, recharging her regal energy. Hera is wise and discerning, preferring a small, loyal circle of trusted friends. After all, even a goddess must choose her companions carefully!

When it comes to training, Hera's eagerness shines, especially when cookies are on the table. She's one of our BEST loose-leash walkers, always composed and graceful on her walks. If she encounters any challenges, her trusty "let's go" cue makes it easy for her to move on like the queen she is.

Hera seeks a home where she can reign as the only animal-no need to share her throne! She would also thrive in an adult-only home where her royal wishes are respected. A backyard would be the perfect place for her to soak up the sun and watch over her kingdom.

Are you ready to welcome Hera, the queen of your heart and home?

My favorite things:
Being outside!
Treats! Cream cheese and chicken are my favorite, but, let's be real, I'll eat almost anything.
Watching out the living room window
Long walks
Booty scratches (once we a friends)
Sleeping in a human bed

Cues that I know:
Sit, down
Touch
Place/Relaxation
Working on muzzle training
Loose leash walking
Scratch (for keeping my front nails short with a scratch board)

How am I doing in foster?
"Hera is a bundle of joy and personality. She fits in perfectly to my routine as it's just her and me! That is where Hera thrives. She likes it when her close human friends come over to visit but prefers a quiet home. We go multiple times a week to the forest preserve, and she loves all the sniffs! She may try to chase a squirrel or two but can be redirected with treats. She also loves my fenced yard and having some independence when outside. I have been helping Hera prepare for her forever home by teaching her manners when people enter the house. You are in for a wonderful dog, if you pick Hera" -Hera's foster mom

Hera is an All-Star dog! Her adoption appointment includes a discussion with our Training Team, and she will go home with her very own no pull-harness and a few enrichment goodies to help get her off to a good start! To schedule an appointment to meet Hera, email info@ahconnects.org (please include your name and phone number), and the staff will be happy to help you! Our dogs and puppies go home spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested (6 months and over), and up to date on core vaccines, heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Their adoption also includes a free-vet exam at one of our participating veterinarians.
