Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Andre and a littermate were abandoned by their owner in 2019, forcing them to survive on the streets alone. They were an elusive pair and outsmarted many attempts to get them off the streets, but they were eventually caught months apart. Andre was the more difficult brother and came into foster care in November 2020 after over a year of avoiding capture. It's difficult to adequately summarize both his progress and his needs in a short bio, but he has come a very long way since then and has proven to be a very special friend to those willing to put in the time and effort.
When he came into care he was shut down, unsocialized, untrusting, and terrified. It took him days to leave his kennel, and a month to walk on a leash or even have the courage to step outside. Even the simplest things were huge mountains for Andre to conquer. As one can imagine, it has taken awhile for Andre to trust and adjust to dog life, and we have celebrated each baby step along the way. Recently, he has been spending time at doggy daycare socializing with other dogs and people and that has helped his progress even more!
Top 10 things to know about Andre:
1. Former feral street dog - fearful and skittish with new people / experiences and a flight risk
2. Goofy, hilarious, FUN, loving, and sensitive!
3. Dog friendly!
4. Cats - no thank you!
5. Kids - respectful older kids may be considered
6. Anxious in new situations but has weaned from daily meds with routine and structure
7. Intelligent - knows basic commands plus some fun tricks
8. Very loyal once he fully trusts you
9. Takes longer to warm up to men in general, and does best meeting new people outside of his home
10. Loves walks & exploring
Some of Andre's needs:
1. Patient & understanding humans who can be leaders as he looks to his people for guidance. Multiple meets may be necessary prior to taking him home.
2. Quiet home with secure 5-6 ft fence
3. Flight risk precautions must be taken to keep him safe & secure. This is VERY important while he adapts and must be taken seriously.
4. Experience with fearful dogs preferred
5. Would likely do best with a confident dog friend but can adjust to being a solo-dog.
Andre is available for foster transfer or adoption to the right home.

Additional adoption info
For us, the adoption process begins the day we take a dog or cat into our rescue. It’s a huge responsibility, taking in a lost soul and promising them a happy life, but we are pretty proud of the forever families we’ve helped create because our adoption process is so thorough.
The first step in adopting is to fill out the adoption application. This helps our volunteers understand what kind of new friend you are looking for, and allows us to identify any issues that would prevent us being able to place certain animals in certain homes. For example, breed restrictions in your town or apartment complex, etc…
The Beauties will conduct a vet check to make sure the pets you currently have are all up-to-date on vaccinations and spayed or neutered. We will also contact you to set up a home visit, where we can make sure that the home you have meets the needs of the animal you are interested in. Example: fence height for dogs who are jumpers, stairs for dogs who have mobility challenges, etc… We try to troubleshoot any potential problem areas and offer friendly advise so that our ultimate goal, a forever happy match, can be achieved.
After the application process is complete, the real fun begins! It’s time for Meet-N-Greets! We have a professional dog trainer on our board of directors, and we can schedule her assistance in helping you with dog-to-dog introductions while you are searching for your new family member. It’s amazing how often the existing family pet has a little something to say about who they want to spend time with and having a pro help out makes the potential for a successful intro go through the woof! We mean, roof!
Once you have decided on the dog or cat of your dreams, all that is left to do is sign the adoption contract and pay the fee, which includes all vaccinations, microchip and spay/neuter.
