Lilo was surrendered to our rescue after she “aged out” from her breeder. Breeders like to sell their puppies at an ideal age, it typically varies between 10wo-16wo. Once the puppies pass that age, the breeders have new litters to care for & the older puppies get overlooked for adoption. Obviously, this is only one scenario for a breeder to release a puppy to rescue, and it applies in this case. Lilo has no known health issues and was found to be in excellent health during her vetting appointments.

Lilo has settled in with her foster family & they report her to be very reserved. This is not unusual for a puppy of her age that has not had a lot of human interaction. She enjoys a lot of freedom & always has a buddy or two hanging out with her. She won’t have to have another dog in the home, but she will be more receptive to training if she has another canine to look to.

Lilo is not leash trained, the leash scares her, & she absolutely won’t do her potty business if you put a leash on her. We will require a very secure physical fence for her. Even with a fenced yard, you may want to consider an xpen that will limit the area where she has access. This will make it easier to pick her up when it is time to go back inside. She absolutely loves running free & we will not deny her that opportunity. Even with a fenced yard, NEVER EVER should she be left alone outside. She is little & needs to be watched!

She is doing fantastic on potty training at her foster home. When a new home is introduced, there are changes in routine, therefore she will need her family to be patient & set her up for a successful transition.

Puppies like to explore, they are much like having a toddler in your home. Every single object they have access to is fair game. When bringing a puppy home, we recommend having a dedicated contained area for the puppy to be when a family member isn’t directly playing with them. This will prevent the puppy from being underfoot or getting into things they shouldn’t. This keeps everyone, especially the puppy, safe & happy!

Are you ready to bring a new puppy home? Do you have the time & the patience? Is everyone in the household ready to pitch in & welcome a new family member? We are ready to process applications & find Lilo her forever family!
