My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there, my name is Chex and I am one of a 7-pack of 4-month-old Catahoula/Pointer mixes, born on 5/30/2023, and I currently weigh 18 lbs. You may be thinking I don't look like a pointer mix, but my mama is a Pointer mix, so I must be! She was a stray dog in San Antonio Texas, roaming the streets for about 3 months, seen occasionally with a handsome Catahoula that looks exactly like us. Thankfully, a good samaritan took her in just before we were born, so us kids have never had to worry about being fed or being safe and all of us are very well cared for.

I am a very sweet boy, with a beautiful brindle coat and even though I do not have groovy blue eyes like some of my siblings, my personality makes up for it! I’m a dog that loves kids. I know we all love kids, but I am drawn to them and will chase the children in my foster home back and forth through the house for hours until I poop out and take a nap. I am also great with grown-ups, dogs, and kitty cats. I am excited to meet strangers and everyone gets slathered with kisses. I have a medium energy level, and my foster mom says I’m a goofball and she calls me The Shadow because I’m always following someone. I love doggy toys and right now it’s tennis balls that are my favorite or anything that rolls or squeaks. I am loving and affectionate and I am smart. I already know how to use a potty pad, I am already crate trained, I'm already neutered, and sometimes while being spoken to, I will actually be listening, ears perked up and tilting my head from side to side. It’s adorable! There is a rescue dog transport van getting ready to leave Texas and it’s heading to Connecticut and the surrounding states, so everyone can meet their new forever families, and I will be one of the passengers. I have no idea what my future looks like or who will adopt me, but I know it will be filled with love, and hopefully some tennis balls, LOL.

* We encourage you to send us an email with your #1, #2, and #3 choices, and we will be happy to help you find a pup to complete your family! Also, please continue watching our listings as we post new dogs multiple times a week. There is no need to fill out another application, just let us know what other dogs you are interested in as they come up.
