My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Rolf is an adorable boy but we almost didn't end up taking. The original photos of him at the animal shelter showed his face was very jowly and clearly not that of a Doberman. We aren't able to save as many mixes as we would like to these days due to the amount of dogs being euthanized in the animal shelters so we initially didn't feel like we could commit to him. The second photo we saw looked very different and he did look like a Doberman. He was also labeled as a Doberman Pinscher at the shelter so we picked him up. Well, the first photo was more accurate because this guy is definitely a mix with some big jowls but we are so glad we saved him. Rolf is a goofy, darling, intelligent and affectionate boy. It took him a couple of days to warm up to new people but he is more trusting every day. He should be in a patient, adult home that can give him the time he needs to gain trust. We don't know what he is mixed with but a DNA test is pending so we hope to know soon. He is a big boy, slender at 82 pounds so he will be at 90-95 pounds when full weight. The shelter aged him at 4 years old but there's something not quite mature about him and we think he's likely around 2. Rolf has lived easily with a large female and was friendly towards other large dogs he has met on walks. He has a little bit of training and a distinctive bark that actually sounds like he's saying "rolf"!
