Moose is such a sweet boy! Moose is approx 4 years old and 50 lbs. Moose is great with other dogs and loves kids. But we do think he needs to go to an adult only household, just because he can be possessive of toys and if startled can be reactionary.
For now we are looking for a home with a fenced in yard, and another dog for Moose to play with. Moose loves the dog park, loves his walks. He is charming, engaging, sweet, affable, funny, entertaining, child-like (child-ish?at times) and very affectionate. Moose is doing well at his foster home with another dog and plenty of walks/dog park time.
OBSERVATIONS FROM MOOSE'S FOSTER HOME:
Moose is affectionate, confident, social- a total lover boy! He loves nothing more than to hang out at your feet (or on your lap!) and to be petted and kiss you in return. He is perfectly friendly with other dogs, but it is people of all ages that he adores. On walks he is drawn to meet people, not the dogs accompanying them. Our neighbors are already smitten.
He also like to greet his people by jumping up and gently putting his paws on your shoulders and giving you a little kiss. Endearing, yes, but I have been trying to break that habit! I’ve been working on “sit” but we’re not quite there quite yet. Because of his size and strength adopter should be willing to work on basic obedience, and although he’s a little stubborn he is very good natured. And I should mention that he does pull on the leash and he is strong.
He has adjusted very quickly here: no accidents or marking, and he has settled in well at night. He is happy with a daily walk or two and time in a fenced yard to sniff around and be a hound. In new situations and places he gets fired up and wants to check everything out (that hound behavior) but then he calms down. So far, he’s been pretty quiet. Between activities he likes to chill—spends a fair amount of time lying around. If I ask him how he’s doing he raises his head, wags his tail, and then back to chilling.
Moose would be an amazing companion for a family or individual willing to spend the time to train him. He is such a lovely dog!
