Jewel is a gorgeous young female beagle who was surrendered to a rural shelter by her owner because she wouldn't hunt. Her time had run out and she was scheduled to ne euthanized, but we saw something special in her and knew she deserved another chance. Jewel was extremely timid and un-socialized when she first came to us, but has made steady progress in the time she has been here, although she is still shy around unfamiliar people. She is very sweet and affectionate with people she knows and trusts, but because she is reserved around strangers it is hard for her to make a good first impression when we introduce her to prospective adopters. Unfortunately, some people have a difficult time seeing past her initial shyness and as a result Jewel has so far been overlooked.

Jewel is a playful and affectionate girl that loves to give kisses and enjoys one-on-one attention. Being a female she can be a bit "bossy" with other dogs and would probably do best in an only dog home where she would not have to share things or compete for attention. Jewel has been spayed, is current on vaccinations, heartworm negative (on monthly preventative), crate trained, house broken, and microchipped. Jewel would feel most comfortable with someone that understands her need to take things slow. If you are the type of person that can look past her shyness to see her true personality you would be greatly rewarded. She has so much love to give and is a wonderfully sweet companion!
