My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Howdy, dear friends!

I'm Dolly Parton, and just like my legendary namesake, I've got a heart as big as Tennessee. I've strutted my way through the trials of distemper, and now I'm ready to find my forever stage - I mean, home!

Life threw me a few twists and turns, but I faced them head-on, just like a Dolly Parton hit song. The wonderful folks at the shelter have been my biggest cheerleaders, and they're so proud of my journey that they're waving my adoption fee with a donation. Now, that's what I call a grand performance!

I've got that classic Dolly Parton sparkle - I'm sweet, sassy, and always up for a good time. Whether it's a game of fetch or a stroll in the park, count me in! Just like the melodies of a country ballad, I'll fill your life with joy and rhythm.

I'm on the hunt for a forever family that knows how to appreciate the simple pleasures of life, just like the soul of country music. Together, we can create a harmonious symphony of love, loyalty, and unforgettable moments.

So, if you're ready to add a little country magic to your life and make me a part of your story, let's make beautiful music together!

Strumming my heartstrings and wagging my tail,
Dolly Parton

More about this shelter

The Animal Defense League was established in 1934 by a group of individuals, “for the prevention of cruelty to animals; to promote kind and humane treatment of animals; and to aid and assist the enforcement of laws enacted for the prevention of animal cruelty.”

In 1961, ADL moved to its present location in the easily accessible northeast part of San Antonio. Its campus encompasses more than 12 acres and includes a two-acre pet park. On the property is an Adoption Center with a small retail store, and a separate 5,000 square-foot Clinic which houses our veterinary hospital that provides onsite spay/neuter surgery, surgery for injured and ill animals, and ongoing medical care for all ADL resident animals.
