My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Age: 4 years

Weight: 6 lbs

We have one adoption application under review for Nikita
Nikita, aka Roo, is a four year old Chihuahua with unusual walking ability. She was apparently born with 2 ½ legs. Her family had her since she was a puppy and then decided they didn’t’ want her anymore. Luckily they told the neighbor when they put her outside. The neighbor took her to the local shelter which unfortunately, happens to be a kill shelter. She was very scared but as soon as we got her out of there and into a foster home, her wonderful personality came alive. Someone forgot to tell Nikita she has special needs. She loves to play and snuggle just like any other dog. She attacks her toys and shakes them until she is quite sure they have been conquered. She sleeps in an ex-pen at night without a peep though she prefers to sleep with her humans. She is wee pad trained and will go outside if you keep her on a schedule. She likes to be outside when the weather is nice. She of course is never left outside unsupervised. She does great on soft things like the bed, the carpet or soft grass. She bounces around like a bunny. But even on hardwood floors and tiles the maneuvers herself around. She uses the stump she has up front, or for short distances she can walk upright on her hind legs. Hopefully she will have a customized cart soon and then there will be no stopping her. She loves to play with anything that will play with her – dog, cat or human. She does fine with children but she should go to an adult only home. She can be squirmy when picked up and a younger child could easily drop her. Nikita is spayed, microchipped, current on thost and just had her teeth cleaned. All she is missing is that special family to take her into their hearts and home . . . . . . forever this time. Yes, she requires a little more effort than the normal, four legged dog. But when you meet her and discover her charming personality, you will agree she is worth it.

Adoption fee is $200.
