We have one adoption application under review for Max.Max is a 25 lb mutt who loves his people and his little doggie friends. In a home full of Chihuahuas, he towers over his friends, but he is also the low doggie on the totem pole and is often put in his place by the tiniest of his doggie friends. He loves to play with dogs and has playdates with larger dogs too. He is not fostered in a home with cats, and we’re uncertain if cat siblings would be a good fit. With people, he’s apprehensive around strangers at first but will warm up if given the time.
Max underwent two weeks of intense training to work on some control issues (he has used his mouth on 6 occasions to say he doesn’t like his collar to be grabbed at). Although skin has never been broken, it is unacceptable behavior that needed attention by professionals. For this reason, Max will be placed in a dog-savvy home. Post-training, Max has shown remarkable progress. His routine is not difficult, but it is important to maintain the consistency learned at training when Max goes to his forever home to make sure he is a wonderful addition to the home.
Max needs:
•Adult only household
•Dog-savvy adopter(s) with prior dog experience
•Active adopter(s) who will enjoy taking him on long walks/run
•Structured environment – his foster parents are firm believers in routine for Max now that they’ve seen how calm he has become, whereas before he seemed unsettled or nervous when not following a routine
Adoption fee is $200.
